From unique sights to delicious Belgian specialities - Liège is a diverse and multifaceted city. The city in the Belgian region of Wallonia attracts many visitors every year. Liège is located close to the German border and is therefore a perfect destination for your JGA.

Anyone searching for Liège on the Internet will see "Liège waffles" as the first result. And not without reason, because in addition to Belgian specialities such as fries and beer, waffles in Liège are a real symbol of the city. A bite of a Liège waffle, also known as Gaufres de Liège, is not to be missed. They differ from conventional waffles because of their caramel-like and golden coating. In genuine Liège waffles, the dough is topped with a lump of sugar, which gives it its crispy and sweet layer.

After refreshments and Liège waffles, you can experience the beautiful historic city centre. It has a special flair, with cobbled streets and small alleyways adorned with flowers and vines. The old town centre also impresses with its many views of the city.

Place Saint-Lambert

If you want to learn more about the history of the province, you can visit the Prince-Bishop's Palace from Place Saint-Lambert. The Museum of Walloon Folklore is located in the centre of Liège and offers an insight into the history of Wallonia. Walloons are a French-speaking people who settled in the south of Belgium. In the various collections you can see the former life of the Walloons.
