Info about düsseldorf
Düsseldorf is synonymous with art and fashion and attracts travel enthusiasts to one of Germany's most popular cities every year. There's plenty to do here for the JGA, whether it's walking, sightseeing or simply enjoying yourself. Welcome to Düsseldorf!
St. Lamertus and Burgplatz
St. Lambertus is known for its leaning church tower. According to records, there has been a church on the site since the 12th century, which has been extended several times over the centuries. Inside you can marvel at the impressive baroque altar as well as works of art from the 7th century.
Burgplatz is located south of St. Lambertus and is known as one of the most beautiful squares in Germany. Although today only the castle tower bears witness to the former castle and later Düsseldorf Castle, the name of the square has remained. The castle tower now houses the Schifffahrtsmuseum, which tells the story of the Rhine.
Old Town Düsseldorf
The old town is the attraction par excellence. On an area of half a square kilometre you will find everything your heart desires. This is the place to sing your JGA song or simply feast. Because of the numerous snack bars, the Old Town is also called the "longest bar in the world".
Benrath Baroque Palace and Harbour
The baroque Benrath Palace dates from the 18th century and is located in a green oasis in the Benrath district. The façade is strikingly painted in pink and stands out from the idyllic surroundings with its white baroque sculptures and ornaments. Would you like to go for a walk? You can spend several hours in the palace garden before listening to the lapping water on the banks of the Rhine.
The harbour shows Düsseldorf from its modern side. In addition to the parliament, dazzling skyscrapers and the whimsical buildings of the media harbour are located here. The Rhine promenade is a proud 1.5 km long and a popular place for Düsseldorfers.
Königsallee "Kö
Shopping, strolling or simply looking in the shop windows - the most expensive designer shops in Düsseldorf await you on Königsallee. The street, which Düsseldorfers only call the "Kö", leads around the Stadtgraben, a small water feature. The Bergische Löwe not only adorns the Düsseldorf coat of arms, but also stands on the Kö and should not be missing from the JGA group photo.
