Info about zurich
Zurich is Switzerland's financial and banking centre and one of the most liveable cities in Europe. The beautiful architecture and lifestyle are emphasised by the picturesque landscape in the background. So let's go to the sights in Zurich for your JGA!
Grossmünster and St Peter's Church
The Romanesque Grossmünster was built as early as the 13th century, but was only given its current name "Münster" in the 15th century. According to legend, the sacred building was built on the graves of Saints Felix and Regula.
The baroque church of St Peter is famous for its clock tower, whose first clock was installed in 1366. The clock face of the tower is also the largest in Europe today. The sacred building itself dates back to the 10th century, before being remodelled several times over the centuries. And don't miss it: The murals inside are adorned with Hebrew inscriptions.
Urania Observatory
The Urania Observatory got its nickname "Urania" from Greek mythology and takes visitors into the world of the cosmos. You can also take a look at the stars through the Carl Zeiss telescope by booking a guided tour.
Old Town Zurich
Culture, culinary delights and parties await you in the streets of Zurich's old town. Here you will find the best clubs, shops and restaurants that unfold endlessly in the city. Cocktails and champagne are always available for your stag party. Incidentally, the most important street in Zurich is Bahnhofstrasse, one of the best shopping streets in Europe.
Water church
The Wasserkirche got its name from its location on the banks of the River Limmat, where it originally stood on a small island. In the 15th century, its Romanesque predecessor was replaced by a grandiose Gothic building before the church's treasures were removed during the Reformation. Today, only tradition points to the location of a healing spring which, according to legend, was a popular place of pilgrimage.
Uetliberg
If you fancy nature and green forests, head to the Uetliberg for a wonderful view over Zurich and Lake Zurich in front of it. The summit can be reached on foot or by taking the Uetliberg railway to enjoy the panorama.
