Info about Tallinn
Are you looking for a great city that offers you fun, culture and history for your stag party? Then Tallinn, the Estonian capital, is the perfect destination for you. Tallinn is a city rich in culture and history and is located on the Gulf of Finland on the Baltic Sea. The sea, many islands and wonderful views await you here. Tallinn Bay is also a great place for sailing.
The old town - a piece of culture to behold
Tallinn's Old Town takes you on a journey through the Middle Ages. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997 and has been preserved in its original state. The Old Town is divided into a high and a low part. The two areas in the Vanalinn district are divided by the mighty walls of the old fortifications.
The Domberg is the highest part of the old town. As the city is easy to explore on foot, you can make your way to the Domberg on a clear day. From there, you have a breathtaking view of the colourful rooftops of the city and the Baltic Sea. Afterwards, you can round off the day with a small picnic and a Kali, a typical local lemonade, at Dompark.
The centre: the town hall
You can discover impressive buildings in the lower town. These include the city's landmark, the town hall, which is located in the centre of the old town. There is also a viewing platform from which you can admire the city, the harbour and the bay. From there, you can walk to other landmarks such as the Heiliggeistkirche, which was built in the late Gothic style, and the Nikolaikirche.
The city on the Baltic Sea also has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine. Estonian cuisine is strongly influenced by Russian, Scandinavian and German cuisine and is therefore hearty and sumptuous. Favourite dishes here are mulgikapsas and kilu.
Fans of culture and art will also get their money's worth in Tallinn. The city is home to the Kumu Museum, which mainly exhibits Estonian art. In the open-air museum, you can immerse yourself in 18th and 19th century Tallinn and learn about rural culture.
