Stuttgart can do more than just make cars. In Germany's sixth-largest city, your stag party will be something very special. Which sights are part of every excursion?

Old Palace and New Palace Stuttgart

The Old Castle has its origins in the 12th century, when the duke of the time had a moated castle built to protect the region. There is said to have been a fortification on the site before this, which influenced the name of the town. Over the centuries, the word "Stuotgarten", meaning stud farm, changed into Stuttgart. Today, the Old Castle is a museum building.

The New Palace dates back to the 18th century and was the seat of the Württemberg dukes and kings. The numerous figures on the roofs, some of which survived the destruction of the Second World War, are striking. Today, the palace and the palace square are the seat of the state government and the Ministry of Finance.

Königstraße and market hall

Fancy a spot of shopping? Then you've come to the right place with the dazzling glass facades of Königstraße Stuttgart. The shopping street is one of the most popular in Germany and is 1.2 kilometres long. You start your walk near the railway station before making your way towards Schlossplatz. Cars have not been allowed to drive here since the 1960s.

The market hall was built in the 20th century as an alternative to the open vegetable markets in the city. It has all kinds of surprises in store for visitors - local specialities and restaurants will keep you going for the rest of the day in an area of 3,500 m².

Stuttgart State Theatre and Collegiate Church

The Stuttgart Opera House was built at the beginning of the 20th century after the original opera house burnt down. It is part of the Stuttgart State Theatre. According to records, the first performance was staged as early as 1660. Today's building is popular with visitors mainly due to its acoustics.

The collegiate church can be reached on foot via Königsstraße. It is enthroned in Gothic style in the centre of the town and always impresses visitors with its uneven towers. In the church you will find the Romanesque high tomb of Count Ulrich I and Gothic tracery windows.
