Unesco world heritage site: the old town

Riga's unique Old Town has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997 and rightly so: the Old Town is full of impressive buildings in different styles and many cafés to relax in. Enjoy the charm and atmosphere of the old town while sampling one of Latvia's regional dishes in a cosy restaurant.

The central market

At Riga Central Market, the largest market in Latvia and only a short distance from the old town, you can sample fresh food, exotic fruits and delicious dishes. A piece of Germany

Riga is the twin city of Bremen, where the original statue of the fairy tale is located. The sculpture, created by Christa Baumgärtel, was donated to the twin city in 1990 as a symbol of the opening of the Iron Curtain in the days of the Soviet Union.

Another important monument in Riga is the so-called "Castle of Light" - the National Library. The Latvian National Library is located on the banks of the River Duna and houses a huge collection of national and international literature. But it's not just the interior and the books that fascinate visitors, as the building itself is a beautiful and impressive photo motif!
