Info about Lucerne
Medieval alleyways and the breathtaking view of Lake Lucerne await you in the Swiss city of Lucerne. The city may only have around 90,000 inhabitants, but it is a picturesque destination and the perfect place for a romantic stag party.
Chapel Bridge
The Kapellbrücke, the town's landmark, is a covered bridge that leads from Bahnhofstrasse to Rosengart-Platz. Before its destruction in 1993, the bridge stood proudly for 600 years as a fortification on the banks of the Reuss. And don't miss it: As you stroll along, you can marvel at the triangular paintings directly under the roofs. They were originally created during the Counter-Reformation.
Lucerne Old Town and Musegg Wall
The picturesque old town is an ensemble of medieval buildings, small shops and restaurants. Cast-iron signs and elaborate paintings adorn the fronts of the houses, reminding us of the traders and craftsmen who once lived here.
The Musegg Wall was built in the 13th century and characterises the cityscape today. The wall is also one of the best preserved in Switzerland and is 800 metres long.
Bruchquartier and St. Leodegar
Fancy shopping, cocktails and exquisite restaurants? In the Bruchquartier, the trendy neighbourhood in Lucerne, you can immerse yourself in the luxury of the city. Wander through the small shops and boutiques before toasting to your JGA together.
The courtyard church, St Leodegar im Hof, has its origins in the 8th century, when the first monastery was built on the site of the church. As the sacred building was destroyed in a fire in the 17th century, only the Romanesque towers remain today as a reminder of the earlier construction phases.
Lion Monument and Pilatus
The Lion Monument is located on Denkmalstrasse and depicts a dying lion. The sculpture is intended to commemorate the fallen Swiss Guards in Paris on 10 August 1792.
Mount Pilatus is located in the south of the city and overlooks the entire region from its summit at 2128 metres above sea level. Whether you want to hike or explore the surrounding area on the famous cogwheel railway, an adventurous excursion is guaranteed. What's more, a breathtaking view over Lucerne and the snow-capped peaks of the Alps awaits you on the terrace.
