Info about bremen
Bremen is clearly one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. Culture, literature and art still enliven the streets today. Which sights are a must for every stag party?
"Quarter" and Schnoor
The "Viertel" is the scene for your stag party. It is located between the Ostertor and Steintor districts in the south of Bremen. There is always something going on in the pubs, bars and restaurants, so a successful evening is guaranteed.
Winding alleys, colourful facades and half-timbered houses await you in the medieval quarter of Schnoor. The name of the quarter comes from Low German and means "string". In addition, the quarter was largely spared the destruction of the Second World War, and today it features houses, some of which are over 500 years old.
Bremen St. Peter's Cathedral
Bremen Cathedral, St. Peter's Cathedral on the market square, is an impressive Gothic sacred building that has its origins in the 11th century. Moreover, according to tradition, the 90-metre-high towers may not be towered over by other buildings. Furthermore, 8 mummies were discovered in the church's lead cellar in 1698, which are now on display in the cathedral.
Bremen City Hall and Roland
The 15th century town hall has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004. It is an important representative of brick Gothic architecture and features several figures on its façade, including the 7 electors, the city saint Peter and biblical characters. In addition, a visit to the Ratskeller to enjoy the wine is a must on your JGA trip.
Opposite stands the city's landmark. The Roland is a proud 10 metres high and is said to be the protector of the city. It was erected in 1404, complete with coat of arms and sword.
Bremen Town Musicians & Böttcherstrasse
The Bremen Town Musicians are omnipresent in the city centre. The fairy tale is internationally known and that is why the four animals hide in the streets and stand as a bronze statue in front of the town hall. Furthermore, when touching the donkey's legs, visitors are said to be showered with luck.
Böttcherstraße dates from the interwar period, when Ludwig Roselius, a Bremen merchant and inventor of decaffeinated coffee, bought up most of the houses. He also commissioned several artists to redesign the street, whereupon it shone in the splendour of Expressionism with extravagant brick façades.
