Beautiful university city

The city of Bologna in the heart of Italy is the capital of the Emilia Romagna region and was the European Capital of Culture in 2000. Would you like to combine your stag party with a city trip through Italy's beautiful city of Bologna? Then you have many possibilities to explore the city.

The city is known for being home to the oldest university in Europe, founded in 1088 by Pope Urban II. The university offers courses in various fields such as law, medicine, engineering, economics, literature, philosophy and theology. With an international student population, Bologna is a very young and lively city. You will find great culture and history there!

The Piazza Maggiore

When you arrive in Bologna, the first thing to do is visit the Piazza Maggiore, the main square in Bologna, to get a first impression of the city. The bustling Piazza Maggiore is home to many grandiose Renaissance buildings, such as the majestic Basilica of San Petronio. The Basilica of San Petronio stands directly to the south of the Piazza Maggiore and is considered one of Bologna's most important sights.

The basilica's interior impresses with colourful frescoes on the walls, high ceilings and stained glass windows. Huge columns provide a spatial structure and the main altar stands under an artistically designed ciborium. The 67-metre-long meridian of Cassini, which is embedded in the marble floor, is also worth seeing.

Typical Italian cuisine

At lunch, you can enjoy "Ragù alla Bolognese" in a typical Italian osteria, which is served with tagliatelle, tortellini or gnocchi instead of spaghetti. In tourist restaurants, however, you will also find the spaghetti version. After lunch, you can go shopping in Quadrilatero, a small neighbourhood with the city's main shopping streets and some luxury boutiques. Later, you can climb the Torre degli Asinelli for a panoramic view of the Bologna skyline. The Torre degli Asinelli, together with its lower neighbouring tower Garisenda, form the "Towers of Bologna".
