Info about cologne
Cologne is not only known for its extravagant carnival. Which sights must you see during your JGA visit?
Cologne Cathedral
Cologne Cathedral took over 500 years to build and the church is now the largest north of the Alps. Stained glass windows, gold and the Shrine of the Epiphany are among the must-sees of your JGA adventure. The shrine dates back to the 12th century and is said to have prompted the construction of the cathedral in order to create a worthy exhibition venue.
Hohenzollern Bridge and Kölntraingle
The Hohenzollern Bridge was built between 1907 and 1911 as a railway line. After it was destroyed in the Second World War, the city of Cologne added a pedestrian zone to make it easier to cross the Rhine. Today, visitors like to attach locks to the bridge if they want to immortalise their love.
For a panoramic view of the city, the Kölntriangle is the perfect place for you. The skyscraper is the second tallest building in "Kölle" and has an impressive 29 floors. Visitors can access the viewing platform via a separate entrance.
Old Town Cologne and fish market
The old town centre enchants with its narrow alleyways, narrow houses and countless restaurants and pubs where you can start the evening. A photo with the statues of Tünnes and Schäl is of course a must. Anyone who touches Tünnes' nose is said to be showered with luck.
The fish market is one of the most historic places in Cologne. Even in the Middle Ages, the citizens sold their fish here in carts. Visitors to Kölle between April and October can enjoy fresh fish and local specialities. As you stroll along the Rhine, you can also marvel at Groß St. Martin, a church dating back to the 12th century.
Chocolate Museum and Belgian Quarter
Fancy something for connoisseurs? The Chocolate Museum shows you the world's production processes and types of chocolate. The chocolate fountain is a futuristic work of art.
The Belgian Quarter is located in the south of Cologne and attracts visitors with its cafés and ice cream parlours. It is a popular part of Cologne's nightlife and therefore ideal for your stag party.
