Old Town Hall and New Town Hall Hanover

The Old Town Hall belongs to the It is one of the most important sights in Hanover and should not be missed on a JGA visit. With its red façade, the building is a representative of the brick Gothic style that stands out in any setting. The design of the market wing dates back to the Middle Ages.

Hannover's New Town Hall is surrounded by the Maschpark and the Maschteich. The building was erected just under a hundred years ago and sits enthroned in the city centre like a postmodern palace. The New Town Hall is impressive in the early evening when the lights are switched on.

Aegidienkirche

What remains of the Aegidienkirche today never ceases to amaze visitors. It originally came from the 14th century, but was destroyed in air raids in 1943. Today, only its outer wall, partly overgrown with ivy, stands as a memorial to the victims of the war.

Market Church and Sprengel Museum

The Marktkirche was first built in the 13th century as the ecclesia Sanctorum Jacobi et Georgii and is the oldest parish church in Hanover. Its tower is a proud 97 metres high and decorated with symbols such as a hexagram.

The Great Garden is a 50-hectare garden complex designed in the 17th century. The ornate design stands in stark contrast to Hannover's industrial development, which is why the green oasis has contributed significantly to the name "garden city".

Although they were frowned upon in the seventies, today they are simply part of Hanover: the three Nanas. The statues of the three roundish women are colourfully painted and loll on the banks of the Leine.
