Info about brunswick
The stag party in Braunschweig - a German city with medieval charm and beautiful sights. What must you see in Braunschweig?
Lion's Wall and Museum Park
The Löwenwall is one of the must-sees in Braunschweig. Because on the spacious square, which is supposed to be reminiscent of a Roman circus, there is a black obelisk. The monument was financed with donations from the people of Braunschweig and is surrounded by four lion statues.
Fancy a stroll before the JGA party starts? Then head to the Museum Park, which is a proud 5 hectares in size and consists of an impressive garden and forest with hidden statues. Many of the tree species are not native to Germany.
Magniviertel
The Magniviertel is the Quarter that we associate with Braunschweig. Half-timbered houses in white and red stretch along the famous shopping street. How about coffee and cake or a Braunschweiger before the JGA games start?
Residence Palace and Dankwarderode Castle
The residential palace tells the magnificent story of the 19th century. Columns decorate the façade, which was only rebuilt in 2006 after being destroyed in the Second World War. The quadriga, the statue of a carriage above the gate, is the largest in Europe.
Fancy a trip back to the Middle Ages? Dankwarderode Castle has been enthroned in the heart of Brunswick since the 12th century. It was originally built by Henry the Lion and today serves as a museum, primarily for the Guelph treasure of Brunswick Cathedral.
Brunswick Cathedral and Old Town Market
It is located right next to Dankwarderode Castle - Braunschweig Cathedral. Medieval art and religion merge in the cathedral, making it a truly unique place. Here you will find the tomb of Duke Henry the Lion and his wife, while a copy of the life-size bronze statue of the Lion of Brunswick has stood outside the castle gates since 1980.
The Altstadtmarkt has its origins in the 12th century, when it was first laid out for merchants. Today it combines architectural styles from different eras and has become a contemporary witness to German history.
